2012-2013 EXECUTIVE BOARD LIST

MDA President Message

Welcome to the Mississippi Dietetic Association. We are a professional organization of 500+ nutrition experts in the state of Mississippi and are an affiliate of the
Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

We will soon be the Mississippi Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as we have
elected to change our name to align with our national organization. Our name
has changed, but our commitment to nutrition and its impact on health remains.

Our academic and experiential training prepare us to provide the most accurate
nutrition and dietetics services available. Most of our members are Registered
Dietitians (RDs) or Dietetic Technicians Registered (DTRs), credentials that
certify us as nutrition experts. Many of us have also earned specialization
certifications in diabetes education, pediatric, renal, or sports nutrition.

We are especially proud of our student members. The knowledge base of our
profession expands each year. This expansion affects all of us, and our students
show the same dedication to the field and are the future leaders in dietetic
practice.

Dietitians are skilled at interpreting the latest scientific information about food and
nutrition into practical food choice messages and advice. Whether you want to
achieve wellness or manage diet-related illness, seek an RD for the best
nutrition advice.

We may be found in a variety of settings such as hospitals, clinics, and nursing
homes; public health and community agencies and schools; and academic and research
settings. Some of us are business owners, are in private practice, or work in
wellness centers or with food companies. Regardless of the setting, we are all
committed to bringing optimal health to Mississippi.

Membership benefits include networking opportunities, continuing education and community events, professional advocacy, job postings, awards, scholarships, and
professional growth. These benefits empower our members to be Mississippi’s
food and nutrition leaders.

It is my pleasure to serve as president of this smart, dedicated group of
professionals. I look forward to the opportunities for growth we will experience
this year, and I welcome your involvement.  Please share your ideas for the Mississippi
Academy and its work to optimize Mississippi’s health through food and
nutrition.

Whether you are here as a member or our guest, thank you for visiting our website. We welcome your return.

Warm Regards,

Rebecca Kelly, PhD, RD, LD
