The nominating committee is beginning the process to fill positions for the 2018-2019 MS-AND Board of Directors, and we need your help in filling the following positions:

- President Elect

- Treasurer

- Delegate

- Council of Professional Issues (CPI) Chair Elect

- Council on Education and Research (COER) Chair Elect

- Nominating Committee Member

- Public Policy Coordinator

President Elect

The President Elect will be elected for one year, and at the end of this term will assume the office of President. The president Elect will support the President in leading MS-AND towards its strategic direction and values, serve as a member of the board of directors, perform the functions of the President in the absence of the President, serve as a coordinator of the annual meeting, and appoint chairs of the standing and special committees to serve during the President Elect's term of office as President.

The President Elect will be: 

- An active, retired, or life member of MS-AND

- Have experience in activities and development of leadership in the profession 

- Be thoroughly familiar with MS-AND, its activities and operations, and have served on the Board of Directors for a minimum of two years

- Have professional goals that parallel those of MS-AND

- Have personal, physical, and professional fitness for the office

- Be reasonably sure of time available for office for two consecutive years

Treasurer

The Treasurer will be elected and serve for two years as a member of the Board of Directors. The Treasurer will have custody of all funds and securities of MS-AND, keep full and accurate financial records, provide annual reports to the membership, and assist the President-Elect in formulating the annual budget.

The Treasurer will be:

- An active, retired, or life member of MS-AND

- Have experience in budgeting, fiscal planning, and management

- Be reasonably sure of time available for office for two consecutive years

Delegate

The Delegate will be elected and serve for three years, and may be re-elected for one additional term of office, and will serve as a member of the Board of Directors. The Delegate will represent and act on behalf of MS-AND at all meetings of the Academy's House of Delegates, communicate all business and current issues of the House of Delegates to and from the Board of Directors and the membership, and communicate pertinent professional practice issues to the district presidents.

The Delegate will be:

- An active, retired, or life member of MS-AND

- Be familiar with state and national activities

- Be able to communicate between district, state, and national associations

- Be reasonably sure of time available for office for three consecutive years

Council of Professional Issues (CPI) Chair Elect

The CPI Chair Elect will be elected and serve one year as a member of the Board of Directors, and at the end of this term will assume the office of CPI Chair. The CPI Chair Elect will assist the CPI chair in coordinating programs of continuing education for MS-AND.

The CPI Chair Elect will be:

- An active, retired, or life member of MS-AND

- Be thoroughly familiar with the state and national activities

- Be able to represent all state members equally in an unbiased manner

- Be able to communicate between district, state, and national associations

- Be reasonably sure of time available for office for two consecutive years

Council on Education and Research (COER) Chair Elect

The COER Chair Elect will be elected and serve on year as a member of the Board of Directors, and at the end of this term will assume the office of the COER Chair. The COER Chair Elect will assist the COER Chair to provide advice and expertise in the development of continuing education programs, assist with the approval of all continuing education activities for MS-AND, and coordinate programs of education for MS-AND.

The COER Chair Elect will be:

- An active, retired, or life member of MS-AND

- Be familiar with dietetic education programs within the state

- Be familiar with research methodology, and be committed to continuing education within the dietetic profession

- Be reasonably sure of time available for office for two consecutive years

Nominating Committee Member

The Nominating Committee Member will be elected to serve three years (first year as Member, second year as Nominating Committee Chair-Elect, and third year as Nominating Committee Chair). This committee will designate candidates annually for offices who meet qualifications for the Board of Directors and submit a ballot to the executive director. This committee also gathers nominations for the annual MS-AND awards.

The Nominating Committee Member will be:

- An active, retired, or life member of MS-AND

- Be familiar with MS-AND activities

- Be familiar with the membership in order to select the most qualified candidates

- Be reasonably sure of time available for office for three consecutive years

Public Policy Coordinator

The Public Policy Coordinator will serve three years as a communication link to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and MS-AND on issues of legislative importance, and serve as the chair of the Legislative and Public Policy Committee

The Public Policy Coordinator will be:

- An active, retired, or life member of MS-AND

- Be familiar with the state and national legislative activities

- Be familiar with government regulations and public policy issues

- Be able to communicate between district, state, and national associations

- Be reasonably sure of time available for office for three consecutive years
