Throughout the year, the ADA Foundation offers several awards to dietetics students and professionals in recognition of their professional accomplishments, to further research objectives and to enable dietitians to enhance their education and skills. Apply now for the Allene Vaden Memorial Award for Foodservice Management Dr. Allene Vaden established this award to encourage young academics and to enhance and stimulate research in foodservice management. One award of $5,000* will be given to support a small grant for foodservice management research. Applicants must be a faculty member teaching foodservice management or a graduate student in an area related to nutrition, pediatric nutrition or nutrition education. Submit a research proposal, curriculum vitae and budget. The award recipient must submit a research paper based on the results of investigation for a refereed presentation at an appropriate professional meeting or to a refereed journal. Deadline is October 30, 2007.
Apply now for the E. Neige Todhunter Memorial Doctoral Fellowship This award will provide financial support of up to $5,000* to a master-prepared dietetics educator or practitioner for doctoral study in nutrition and dietetics, public health nutrition or food systems management. Applicants must be an RD, be admitted into a doctoral program and have a career goal of teaching in a CADE accredited dietetics education program. Deadline is October 30, 2007.
Apply now for the Marie and August LoPresti, Sr. Endowment Fund, Faculty Development Award Two awards of at least $500* each will be awarded for continuing education, an internship in a community-based setting, a teacher exchange program or in-depth educational seminars. Applicants must be employed as a full-time faculty member in a Northeast Ohio college or university, be a resident of Deadline is October 30, 2007.

ETHEL SUMMEROUR SCHOLARSHIP INTERNSHIP UNDERGRADUATE/CUP $500 Criteria A. Demonstration of financial need B. Promise of being a valuable, contributing member of the profession C. U. S. Citizenship/Resident of Mississippi The scholarship is available to either an undergraduate enrolled in a Coordinated Undergraduate program or an undergraduate enrolled in a traditional dietetics program who has been accepted by an accredited dietetic internship. Internship: Accepted by an accredited dietetic internship. Application for scholarship may be made in advance of dietetic internship appointment; however, appointment must be confirmed by the time the scholarship recipients are chosen. Undergraduate/Coordinated Undergraduate: Completion of the academic requirements in an accredited college or university for classification as a junior in a curriculum of foods and nutrition, institutional management, or the equivalent. Application is made in the junior year and the award is given for study in the senior year. Application Procedure Applications may be requested from the ADA Foundation office November through January 15. Completed applications must be returned to the ADA Foundation office by February 15. The Mississippi Scholarship is named in honor Mrs. Ethel Summerour, Lucedale, MS. Mrs. Summerour is the only dietitian to serve the association twice as President (1947 and 1965). She was selected the first Outstanding Dietitian of the Mississippi Dietetic Association. As one of the founders of MDA, she served as the first president and has continued to serve in many other capacities. |
